Many times people read the articles here and ask, 'What can be done about this?'
Most of what we write about has to do with public policy and seems to be beyond reach of those who are not at the center of decision-making.
So how can you make a difference?
A) The purpose of this group is not to call for a specific plan of action, but to raise consciousness: to offer ways to think, to understand, and to more accurately define reality, to differentiate between good and evil, to dispel smoke screens; to ‘pave a path’, so to speak.
There are many important and useful actions, but our consciousness is the basis of everything. If tens of thousands more people will tune in here and refine their consciousness – we will have taken an important step, and the right actions will come about organically.
B) This group has an additional goal, and that is to create a group of like-minded people. That is, not only to help people deepen their own consciousness, but also to provide a way to feel part of a movement in Israel, which knows how to read reality in a slightly more accurate, aware and thoughtful way.
Humans are social creatures, who need a supportive and strengthening group along the way.
Such a group can produce another very important thing: courage. Many are afraid to speak up at school, work, and sometimes even in their circle of family and friends. Not wanting to get into conflicts, people prefer to keep their heads down and move on. But change begins with the ability to muster the courage to speak freely and intelligently wherever you are. The very willingness to dare and speak often changes reality. Silence intensifies bullying, because it gives the people on the other side of the map a feeling that no one thinks differently, and that only their opinion exists on the face of the globe. Groupthink leads to trampling of the other. If those who sharpen their thinking from reading here speak out loud – even in a possibly hostile environment, this can achieve a great deal.
A country is a little like a beehive, such that anyone who speaks and acts affects the whole. We saw a good example of this in yesterday’s article.
C) Many good people turned to different branches of activity out of the desire to enact change, but instead found themselves being influenced rather than influencing others. The number of people who entered the public arena as ideologically right-winged (and still define themselves as such…) but then over time lost their way is alarming, but not surprising.
For example, when Matan Kahana entered politics as an ideological right-winger, he shared that the only book he read in his youth was Danny Din (a child’s comic book series), after which the main reading he did was of the book, A Russian Novel (as part of his re-education in the IDF Special Forces…). What happened to him next is expected and not surprising.
In order for different directions of action to bear fruit, and to maintain a strong conceptual backbone over the years and in different settings and meeting relentless pressure, one must continue to develop consciousness – to study, read books, be connected to the world of ideas and to strengthen one’s groups of affiliation. Items 1 and 2 are key for purposeful action in the right way over time.
D) Although the purpose of the group, as mentioned, is not a call to action, we will offer some possible directions of influence that may promote the awareness of reality, for everyone where they are. If there's one thing I'd choose to learn from the left, it's how to use the public space to make an impact.
Most people on the Right think that influence means putting the right ballot in the box or turning to politics, but this is misleading. Currently, Knesset members have a very limited influence on reality.
The main impact is not created by the legislation itself, but by its interpretation and application.
As mentioned, a modern state is a sort of beehive with many circles of influence: academia and academic research, the civil service, legal clerkships, judicial authority, institutionalized media, alternative media, civic initiatives-associations, and more. All of these affect the whole, each according to their role, skills, resources and prowess. All these things together create a critical mass of influence, more than the worldview of a single member of the Knesset or minister.
The civil service needs the oxygen of thousands of employees with a more Jewish and Zionist orientation (especially the legal and economic clerkship, but not only). Today, the tone on core value issues in civil service is guided by radical left-winged concepts. As long as there are people with a healthy orientation in these places, the scales will tilt in a more positive direction.
The anti-Zionist left is supported by hundreds of associations and organizations – with hundreds of millions of dollars, the vast majority of which is foreign money. They work around the clock to submit claims to The High Court of Justice (Bagatz), prepare reports, write studies and policy proposals, publish investigations, sway Knesset members, draft laws, produce campaigns and much more. The right should invest far more human and financial resources to these efforts. These efforts are lifelong missions, and not for everyone; but it is essential for those who think about their path, so as to realize everything we write here.
E) There are many civic spaces that influence public opinion quite a bit and lie at the crossroads of public decisions.
In the year of the judicial reform, we saw how left-wing groups from a variety of professions such as high-tech, business, medicine, psychology and social work, organized to create social pressure.
Sometimes such organizations are fundamentally corrupt and invalid. Intentionally harming patients in order to exert public pressure is an ugly act devoid of all professionalism, and which should be cause for revocation of a medical license. So too, taking over a worker’s union to promote certain political agendas is a thuggish and violent act.
But these places also generate plenty of legitimate spheres of influence, including, by the way, an opportunity to curb that thuggish activity of predatory and violent workers unions. We need to stop being shy about it, and when needed, create alternative organizations.
F) There are many open platforms for expressing influential messages.
Front and center is alternative media. It is not suitable for everyone, but the correct use of social networks to write, share, comment, etc. adds another voice to the city square discussions. Unlike in the past, today anyone can open a private 'media channel' on Twitter, Facebook and other platforms; And for those able to express themselves in writing or in speaking – this is also an option that when used correctly, can bring great blessing.
The fields of visual communication, art and creativity (music, cinema, acting, etc.) also have a considerable ability to create a critical mass of influence. Learn them. Use them to express messages.
G) And of course, the world of education. No need to say more.
H) In conclusion: don't look for just one arena to take action in. Rather, look at the larger picture. Do your part with awareness and courage, and always keep your connection to consciousness.
And prayers. Many prayers.
Wishing you great success!
